One company for every gas line job
A gas line is not the place to learn who cuts corners. We run new lines for the appliances you add, find and repair gas leaks, and replace or repipe aging gas lines, for homes and for light commercial buildings across Tucson, Marana, Oro Valley and the surrounding areas.
Gas work falls under our CR-77 plumbing license (AZ ROC CR-77 #293702), the same license our plumbers work under. We are licensed, bonded and insured, and the plumber at your door is ours. Read more on our workmanship standards page.
Smell gas? Leave first.
If you smell gas, leave the house right away. Don't flip a switch, run a lighter or try to find the source yourself. Call 911 or your gas utility from outside. Once the building is safe and the utility has cleared it, call us and we will find the cause and fix it.
Not sure whether the smell is a gas line or a drain? Treat it as a gas leak until someone has checked. Our guide to sewer gas problems explains the difference.
Gas line services we handle
- New appliance lines for a range, dryer, water heater, furnace, BBQ, fire pit or pool heater
- Gas leak detection and repair, from a loose fitting to a failed section of line
- Gas line replacement and repiping when an old or damaged line should not be patched again
- Light commercial gas work for offices, shops, small retail and small multi-unit buildings
Signs your gas line needs a look
- A rotten-egg smell near an appliance, the meter or the yard
- A hissing sound near a gas line or appliance
- A gas bill that jumps with no change in how you use gas
- A pilot light that keeps going out, or a burner flame that is yellow or orange instead of blue
- A dead patch in the yard along the path of a buried line
- You are adding a gas appliance and are not sure your existing line can carry it
Adding a gas appliance: the line comes first
A new range, dryer, tankless water heater, furnace, BBQ, fire pit or pool heater all pull gas from the same supply. Before we add a line, we check that your existing gas supply can carry the new appliance on top of what is already running, then we run the line to the appliance and confirm it works. For tankless and furnace jobs, see our water heater and furnace installation pages.
Repair, replace or repipe: how we decide
One failed fitting is a repair. A line that has leaked more than once, or that is worn through in several places, is a different conversation. We find where the problem is, show you what we found, and give you the repair price and the replacement price side by side when both make sense, so you can choose with the facts in front of you. For water supply lines, see whole-home repiping.
Our process
How we handle a gas line call
01
Safety first
If we find a leak, making the area safe comes before anything else.
02
Test, don't guess
We find the problem with testing, not by sight alone. For a leak at or near an appliance, we use an electronic gas detector. When the concern is a long run of line or the whole system, or the gas utility is involved, we pressure-test the line, and sometimes we do both. Every new gas line we install is pressure-tested before it goes into service.
03
You see what we see
We photograph and video the job, so you see the same thing we do and the recommendation rests on evidence.
04
Price in writing before we start
You get the price for the work in writing before any work begins. No surprises on the invoice.
05
Work backed in writing
Gas line work carries at least a 1-year warranty on labor and materials. If the work isn't right, we come back and make it right. See the warranty details.
A recent gas line job in Marana
This spring our install team put a new gas water heater into a manufactured home in Marana and ran new black-iron gas piping under the home to feed it. Before the gas could be turned on, we pressure-tested the line. The test found old joints elsewhere on the existing line that were leaking. We resealed every one of them, the line passed its pressure-test inspection, and Southwest Gas then set the meter. That is why we test before we call a gas job done: a line that looks fine can still leak.

Gas line pricing, straight up
Quotes for new gas lines are free. For a new range, dryer, BBQ or other appliance line, we look at the job and give you the price in writing, with no diagnostic fee. For a leak or a problem with an existing line, the diagnostic visit is $89 for residential and $129 for commercial; that covers the testing, and you get the price for the repair in writing before anything starts. We don't quote a number for a line we haven't seen, because the run length, the access and the condition of the existing line change the job. See our pricing guide for common plumbing prices.
